McCall!

The Hamilton's couldn't use their cabin and generously let us and one of our favorite peeps, Karen use their cabin for the weekend! Lots of laughs and laziness ensued. My favorite moment was when Ryan mistakenly took Tylenol P.M. at 9 a.m. No worries, it was nothing a 3 hour nap couldn't fix.

We watched the BSU game at Shore Lodge. Such an ideal setting, with a view of the lake! 500 trips to the bathroom and 3 trips to tour the lodge, helped keep the kids from getting too antsy!
Cougar K and me. Further proof WSU and UW alums can get along!
Aidan has developed a monster crush on Karen! He might take a while to warm up, but watch out for when he does!
Ice skating! If Morgan had the option, she would live on the rink! Always fun...

Misc.

This should probably go into the "bad idea box," but.... it was kind of fun!
Byron loves his girl and this girl loves her Byron!

Aidan and I have an hour and a half every day after I pick him up from school and need to get Morgan. Needless to say, there are a lot of little adventures! (And probably too many trips to Starbucks.) Look at this guy, I can't get enough of him. Speaking of Aidan, he'll be getting his tonsils out on Wednesday. He's incredibly excited (seriously), I think he has a little crush on the surgeon and she made the whole process sound like fun. Poor kid is going to be really ticked off when he wakes up!
I have no idea what Mr. Pig did, but it must have been bad....
It's always an adventure with Morgan. Aidan got his hair cut and Morgan couldn't resist getting in on the action.
Ryan calls me a "Disneyland Mom" on Fridays since the kids have the day off and I'll admit, sometimes we do some really fun things. But this picture is proof it's not always fun... These kids are patiently waiting for mom to get back to her natural blonde (wink*wink*). And yes, I did bribe them with McD's!

Halloween....

We had such a fun Halloween this year! Our neighbors put together a great party and had hay rides for the kids and parents to cruise around the hood and grab some candy... The kids had a BLAST and so did the parents!

Sometimes a pirate's mom needs to get a little love... You can tell the pirate is very happy about this!

First graders! Morgan loves getting any chance to hang with her friend Mylie...
Hay ride! We are already excited for next year!

Dia de los Muertos, continued...

I do realize that I am oh, about a month behind in my blogging, but better late than never. Sage International also got on board with the Dia de los Muertos celebration. Morgan helped create this display at the Idaho Historical Museum. I just love this picture of Morgan. Such a proud little first grader!

Dia de los Muertos!

If you had sent your two children to a Spanish Immersion preschool like we have for the past five years, then you definitely know what Dia de los Muertos is! Translation: Day of the Dead. I know, it sounds cyptic, but it's actually a beautiful holiday to celebrate the lives of those you love and who have passed on. The goal is to celebrate how they lived, not how they died and to connect with the loved one for one more day. It's become one of my favorite holidays!

If you know Aidan, you know that he is our sensitive little guy. He wears his heart on his sleeve and gets his heart broken easily. The upside of that is that he is one of the most thoughtful children I know (biased maybe?). But really, he seems to "get" it. He loves with 110% of his being and remembers the little things in life that are important. When he learned what Dia de los Muertos was, he was quick to ask if he could bring a picture of my mom, Grandma Vicky, who he has never met, to his school for the celebration. My mom died when I was six and of course her picture is prominently displayed in the room I spend the most time (my office!). Needless to say, I didn't bring the picture to school because I thought we would just bring it to the evening party. Aidan questioned his teacher throughout the day to make sure she reminded me to bring it. I received a call at about the noon hour from Aidan's teacher to make sure I DIDN'T FORGET. He even insisted on watching the phone conversation to make sure the message was made, loud and clear.

Part of Dia de los Muertos is to cajole the passed person's spirit to come back over to this side and connect. I am positive Grandma Vicky was thrilled to have this invitation from the sweetest little grandson on Earth *wink, wink, I'm sure she's biased to!*

All that what was missing was her dixie cup of spicy heart candy...

So happy Dia de los Muertos to you all from the Kearney family!

Happenings!!!

We're finally up and running with the new computer and blogging is back my loyal fans! (And with loyal fans, I mean "my family!")

This picture captures just why I love Idaho so much... Who wouldn't love this Saturday hike right out our front door?

Next year, I'll be a co-leader of Morgan's girl scout troop. This year we are letting Morgan have some independence, but Aidan and I have to be nearby with epi-pen and benadryl in hand.... The joys of food allergic parenting! But Aidan and I do just fine keeping ourselves entertained!
The Daisy Troop!
Kind of a blurry shot of our girl and buddies decorating pumpkin cookies (why egg free of course!)... It only took me two days to get the right shaped Pumpkin. Oh Martha Stewart, you make me puke with how easy you make this stuff look.

The Sillybands (Abby, Megan, Anna, Faith, Halle, Morgan, Jane)! Morgan had her last soccer game on Saturday. Up until the last game, the Sillybands had had the opposite of an undefeated season. Morgan informed me before the game, that the Sillybands were definitely going to win and that this was a Championship game. She explained that this is ALWAYS what happens in the movies, therefore it was a no-brainer. The Sillybands and Morgan had their best game of the season and finally got a W! Hurray!

Sometimes it just is necessary to wear part of your pirate headband to run some errands with mom.
Aidan played hooky from preschool to have some extra time with mom. Jammies all day and playing with diggers, what could be better?
As you can see, we got a little stir crazy by the end of the day... What to do? What to do? Oh I know, beards.
I have it all figured out. Indoor playplace + playdate with Ryder B.=Mommy gets paperwork done. Everyone wins!
It's too bad Ryder is nothing like his father! Ha!
King of the world!
Morgan's school had a Scarecrow Stroll at the Botanical Gardens. While Aidan has already worn through his costume, it was nice for Morgan to have an additional reason to put on the costume before the big holiday!Daddy dressed up like Jim from Dundler Mifflin.

What you won't find pictures of in our blog are pictures from the 3rd Annual Walk for Food Allergy. Guilty conscience for me that I didn't a stinking thing for it this year in terms of planning, but we still went to show support for a cause that is so near and dear to us. Unfortunately, Morgan literally had a panic attack when she saw that there was a costume wolf there, representing the Idaho Stampede. Ryan and I have constantly been bewildered and beside ourselves as to how scared Morgan can get over such seemingly harmless things. It hit me yesterday and I was preparing for Morgan's girl scout pumpkin decorating event. I found myself on the verge of tears, filled with anxiety over whether or not I should bring candy corn. (Morgan is allergic). What if someone touches them, then touches her "safe" things, then she eats it and her throat closes. What if I don't notice and it's too late for the epi-pen to work. So many scary thoughts for an adult to handle. How is a 7 year old, whose reality is that a cookie or a bagel could close her throat supposed to handle this? No wonder seemingly harmless things put the little girl into a tail-spin... Maybe because seemingly harmless things could irreparably harm her...

Absent Kearneys...

There's been a serious lack of postings lately... So much has been going on, but even that is not the cause. I learned the hard way that laptops and water do not mix. You're welcome Dell for keeping your little company in business due to my negligence. Needless to say, my opportunities for going into "cyber dork land" as my darling children and husband call my internet addiction have become drastically reduced.

Morgan has been having a BLAST on the soccer field. We won't go crazy and say that the Sillybands are dominating the competition per se, but they are having a fantastic time and this girl is playing some serious defense and shooting some goals! We're proud and having a great time cheering her on.

I finally got the chance to take Morgan to a guitar lesson, while Ryan and Aidan had some guy time out and about. Holy cow, the kid can play. I was one proud mama and was having visions of pulling a Lynn Spears/Dina Lohan. I kid, I kid. And let's just take a second to admire those boo-boo free arms? Ah National Jewish, how I love you peeps so!

Let's not forget what Mr. Homeboy has been up to, and what that is a lot of crime fighting. I don't know if the residents of Boise are aware or not, but there are a ton of invisible bad guys here. Never fear, Aidan's been karate chopping them, jumping on them and wrestling them like no one's business. He had a playdate with his best little guy friend and I asked him what he planned to do. To which he replied, "You know, round up the bad guys and karate them."

Aidan's also been helping Ryan coach Morgan's soccer team and he's quite the helper. I just love this picture of my two favorite guys.
