Last Summer Hurrah

We said goodbye to Summer 2018 in the most memorable and best way possible... Lummi Island!
Despite a prolonged wait on the tarmac in Boise, we made it to Lake Ki for a night of fun. We were lucky enough to wake up this view!
Just two Jeffreys hanging on the deck....
And then it was up to Lummi for some crabbing! And by "crabbing," I mean we got a crab. But our crabbing excursion did take us to the Blakely Island for ice cream and beer, so that's a win!
This view!!

And these kids. Love them so!
And then it was whale watching time. We had a chartered boat and hit the high seas. There are really no words for that how incredible it was. Well, there is one word. And it's a word I couldn't stop repeating. It was "special." In all seriousness, it was so special!
We had the coolest boat cabin who let the kids drive (and the dads).
And these two, just the best!
There are really no pictures who can do justice to the Orcas we saw. It was so special. No really, it was breathtaking!
Cap'n Aidan.
Co-Cap'n Max. That smile!
One incredibly happy whale watching crew. And our kids got to the leave the country for the time and hit the Canadian Waters....

A beautiful hike to work off the endless eats and drinks....
Just when you think their backyard can't get any cooler, you find a tunnel of green....

Best way to travel on the island.
My best "go to BSU sales pitch" was thick this weekend...

Just a lone little back of the truck rider....
And then it was home to wrap up some loose ends before the start of school. Does a cuter golfer exist??
Or a cuter driver? Yes, DRIVER? 6 months until learners permit folks.

Thank you Fosters for an incredible and special long weekend!

And in case anyone is curious, no, my kitchen is not fixed yet and I have not yet received my trophy for world's leakiest house.

Mountains Were Calling -- Part Deux

Because one weekend in Stanley is never enough.... We headed up for our annual Friends trip. One of my most favorite summer traditions!
Going later in the season had it's advantages, one of which was a super low river so the kids could try their hand at guiding. Insert moms getting a little nervous...
Look at this gaggle of kids!!! So much fun to see them grow up...
We rented two pontoon boats on Redfish lake and had a BLAST! Look at that water people!
Morgan is THRILLED!
And the views didn't disappoint either...
Mi ladies....
Harvey stole the weekend. And then he got into his backpack and I died.

Harvey found my matronly side and snuggled in.

A family photo? What is that? Thanks to Laura!
Poor JoJo looks  a little distorted in this photo, but I had get a panoramic of the most beautiful jog with Laura. This picture just can't even do it justice...

Eloise for the win. In everything.
Beautiful boat views.
Harvey was an equal opportunity snuggler....
Rock jumping for dads and kids. Logan got by with a little help from her friend Ryan.
My almost 8th grader, sigh.
Selfie-ing at Fourth of July Lake. 'Merica.
Mi men.
Such a fun weekend is what could be the most lovely piece of real estate in Idaho.... Until 2019. Prepare yourselves Lower Stanley Cabins.

The Mountains Were Calling

This post could also be titled, "Why Sarah Drinks Wine."

Having the world's leakiest house is a title not for the weak of the heart, the impatient or the busy. Luckily, there is wine for those of us who have the world's leakiest house and all of the qualities listed above. Awesome. Thanks refrigerator.

I just love to come home to these guys.

Now THIS is summer fun.

So what to do? LEAVE TOWN! The Sawtooths it was for our first backpacking trip with all four of us.
Not gonna lie, I was a little nervous. Serial killers and bears, not my faves. But we did it! And I'm hooked!
We woke up to this on Sunday. I mean, seriously! What?

Absolutely breathtaking and beautiful.
As any good hiker, a can of wine and a book. Yes, please.

This was the night before hiking in and camping off the highway. Our neighbors were  SO COOL! That is if you enjoy REALLY loud country music at 3 a.m. Like front row concert loud. But I hadn't heard a good Diamond Rio song in a while and now I can say I have. Thanks guys!

You can hardly see what's happening here, but Aidan is laying in a hammock and the kids are taking turns making each other laugh. Best moment of the trip.
Even our exercise resistant pup enjoyed the weekend.

I can't wait for another trip! But maybe we don't have to have the whole leaky business first?
