Spring 2019

We had a surprise appearance at Girls Ski Weekend. Of course Ryder was a contestant in the pond skim competition at Brundage!

My how we have grown... Girls Ski Weekend used to mean dancing until dawn (or at least midnight at Foresters), but we literally did not go anywhere at night. Yep, we puzzled. Karen and Laura were THRILLED. Okay, they weren't, but Molly, Heather and I were....
Lots and lots of driving. We are learning how long it takes to get 50 hours of driving time when everything is only around 15 minutes away.
And of course, spring brings lots of soccer...
Morgan had incredible season, she truly played like a wild woman on a mission. So much so that she ran straight into a hard flying ball. Leave it to a quick thinking soccer mom to come up with a creative idea to stop the nose bleeding.
Aidan also had a great track season! And sadly, this is my only picture. He finished fourth in City and we could not have been prouder!
And then it was off to Davis, California for another soccer tournament. Love, love, love having one on one time with my buddy.
No trip to California is complete without a In N' Out stop.

Good God I love IKEA. But also thank God we don't have one in Boise. I would lose my retirement.
This poor hotel has so many soccer kids staying there for this tournament... I don't think the staff or building will ever be the same.

Oh I love this group of boys!
A hot soccer game deserves a slushy.

And then it was off to the championships!

Oh this game. How it left me with gray hair. Not only because it was a nail biter, where our boys played so well, but tied 0-0. Then to double overtime, still 0-0. THEN PK's. Which is fine and all, except when the game starts at 4 p.m. and your flight leaves at 6:20 p.m. I had earlier returned our rental car and planned to uber from the field to the airport. I still can't believe we made that flight. But picture for a moment, poor Aidan in his sweaty soccer uniform for 13 hours by the time we got home, us running through the airport, dusty and sweaty with no shoes on and literally running onto the plane.
This is the reward for making that flight. And also to distract myself from how stinky and gross I was....
And then back to Boise to see Morgan inducted into the National Honor Society. It was wonderful to see so many wonderful kids doing great things!

North End Pizza, our home away from home.
Oh Ryan, could he be any sweeter?
This picture makes my heart hurt and swell all at once. What an incredible job these two did this year, I couldn't be any prouder of how hard they worked, the friendships they created and how much they made us laugh. But could we PLEASE slow time down just a titch?

Spring Break 2019!

We were excited for Costa Rica when we booked it back in November, but when we were dealing with never ending construction, we were THRILLED to get out of town. To say we loved Costa Rica is realy an incredible understatement...
First night there. We were super adventurous and booked probably the most American hotel we could have possibly found. Baby steps....
Ryan wasn't too sure about what lay in store for driving in CR, but in true Ryan fashion, he did well.

We were so happy to quickly find a beach front bar when we arrived in Samara, the town we stayed in for the week.

I'd like to say that this shot was a momentary picture of Morgan being silly. Welp, no. She was wore this mask this entire week because well, I guess why not.
The kids were in puppy heaven!

Welcome to the gun show.

So many virgin daquiris for the kids, so many Coco Locos for mom.

I'm not a selfie person, but I had to document my happy place. I could literally live every second of my life on a beach.

It wouldn't be a trip to Costa Rica without a trip to a waterfall. Shockingly, this little beaut was right outside of the city we flew out of and was a random stop on our last day in town.

Another highlight of the trip was ziplining.... And this guy, "Scar" made the kids' day. He is their version of a raccoon and lives for the ziplining company to come and give him cookies.

The kids were much braver than mom and I was truly questioning my sanity at times.

I really couldn't love this big lug any more.

Best date spot ever....

While ziplining, we had some visitors. Who literally tried to poop on us, thanks guys.

And this guy was our unexpected house guest. He lived on the roof of our rented home and we could hear him scratching around. But hearing that wasn't nearly as terrifying as hearing debris falling onto the metal roof in the middle of the night. We were certain someone was trying to break in or running their car into our house. PTSD anyone?

The walk from the beach to the house.

Our lovely home for the week.

While mom and dad are date-knighting on the beach, the kids were busy being artistic.

Costa Rica, you were just the magic we needed. You reminded us that we love adventure and how much fun our family has together. We'll see you again!
