BBQ Time!

We finally had a free weekend to invite friends over for some BBQ time in the backyard... We're so fortunate to have such fun friends here in Boise!

The Richins and I!

Three-quarters of the Bordner Family... Ryder, Morgan and Fisher (with Aidan trying to keep up) were too busy running around like wild-banshees so no photos of them!

Ms. Montano (who really is just a left-handed girl trying to make it in a right-handed world) and the Bordner ladies...

Something was really funny... I can't remember what?

And now we get to the funny part of the evening... Ryan and Jeremy have been best friends since they arrived on the WSU campus 14 years ago and took the college by storm. I can't even begin to describe how close these two are...

Ryan and Jeremy really wanted to play "catch phrase" while the ladies wanted to "chat." There were some negotiations that went on to get us to play... What finally convinced us to play was when Jeremy suggested that if the "boys team" lost, he and Ryan would slow dance!

And thanks to my expert cheating skills, the boys did lose!

The best part of this "dance" was that they danced to Kenny Loggin's "Danger Zone." Yes, that is on our ipod, left over from the deviled egg eating contest these two competed in... Kirstin and I are two lucky ladies!!

Morgan's First Field Trip!

Morgan goes to one of the coolest pre-schools! We are so fortunate to have found Garabatos! It's a Spanish immersion program, so they primarily speak Spanish at the school, but there is also a big emphasis on nature, art, etc. Morgan has thrived there! The school follows the public school schedule, so she's been on summer vacation, but this week we put her into a camp. We were worried that either one of our children would lose a limb from all their arguing or their mom would lose all of her hair from pulling it out from the aforementioned arguing if we didn't give her and her brother a break from each other! Today was the last day of her camp and we had a field trip to the Boise Zoo (no, there aren't just deer, elk and Labrador Retrievers there like Ryan guessed there would be when we first moved here)! I was excited for Morgan because she was really excited to have her first official field trip, but also kind of sad that my little baby girl is getting so big!

On our way! Notice Morgan is eating breakfast in the car, we were running a little late. It's the "Kearney" in me!

The focus of this week's camp was giraffes. The kids made this giraffe, it was so cool, and Morgan was very proud of all the work they did on it this week.

Growing up in Western Washington, every field trip I have ever been on has been soggy. This one was no exception. Morgan's in the blue rain coat, holding hands with her friend Alana.

Aidan joined the field trip too. He could care less about the zoo and only wanted to play with the umbrellas. He kept saying, "Is dis da fiewd twip?" Kind of like, "Is this what Morgan has been so excited for? Really? This is it?"

Surprise!

I love surprises! Not really getting them as much as giving them... Both Ryan and I love Lyle Lovett and he was scheduled to come to town. Ryan kept talking about how much he wanted to go, but I kept saying we had too many plans already this summer, but secretly arranged for a babysitter and bought tickets. The venue is literally a five minute bike ride from our house... It was a great night out, although it made for a very tired and slow Thursday!

Not the best picture ever taken of us... Not sure what I am doing with my neck?

This isn't that great of a picture either, we actually had great seats and then snuck up to the front of the stage towards the end! Thanks for a fun date Mr. Kearney!

Birthday Fun!

Last weekend we celebrated Payton (Jeremy and Kirstin's daughter) and Delaney's (Jesse and Molly's daughter) first birthday! They were born one day apart... They are the sweetest little things, and their parents did a great job throwing a fun party for kids and adults!

The little ladies and their presents! Delaney has learned from Aidan that being naked is what all the cool kids do...(actually, I think she got wet from the water table, but let's pretend that our son isn't the only kid who thinks life is a "clothing optional" affair!)

Mom and Dad Kearney taking a rare break from their rascal children....

Jesse and Molly have the MOST wonderful neighbors! They are so generous and never mind that the Boise Crew is always invading their back-yard for some pool time! It was over a 100 degrees at the party, so a dip in the pool was a must and a life-saver! Here's Aidan trying as hard as he can to be a "big kid" and jump in!

Here's Morgan showing off her famous "belly flop!" Ouch!

Papa Jim is going to be so happy!

While trying to get some things done around the house, I told the kids they can have a "quiet time." Also known as, they can watch t.v. because Mom needs a BREAK! I asked Morgan what she wanted to watch, which was Scooby Doo. Aidan piped in, "I wanna watch golf." I kind of looked at him funny, which led to a tantrum that only a 2 1/2 year old could throw, with Aidan shreiking, "I wanna watch golf, I yike (like) GOLF." So I put Aidan in our room, since there's no way Morgan was going to go for it. I think I can relate to what Papa Jim's mother must have gone through years ago... So Jim, you've got a little golfer over here who's ready for some lessons!

After about 30 minutes, the "excitement" of watching golf was just too much for Aidan, so he had to take a quick nap!
