We just returned from an AMAZING event! So much fun and so inspiring.... 2nd Annual "Robie's Got Faith." It started out as an uncle who run the Robie every year (a half marathon literally up the side of a mountain, crazy!). His niece, Faith, had recently been diagnosed with cancer and seeing his family struggle, he decided to do something and organized an event the day after Robie, called "Robie's Got Faith." There's a one mile kid's run, 5k and 10k. Last year almost $50,000 was raised for sweet Faith's family and this year, Ms. Lula Coe, battling stage IV Wilms Cancer in her lungs. I had the privilege of meeting Ms. Lula a couple of weeks ago while bringing dinner to her family and she stole my heart... I didn't realize that she was a twin or that she had to leave her three brothers and dad behind while she temporarily relocated to Salt Lake City while in the fight for her life... Unreal. In a week filled with such tragedy and sadness, it felt great to do something good and to see this community rally around a special little 9 year old...
All bibbed up and ready to RUN!
This guy was ready to SPRINT!
BSU players? Yes please say the Kearney kids...
Ms. Lula with the BSU football team before the start. What a sweet pea!
And little Ms. Faith, do little people get any cuter! She was wearing the cutest little cape. Currently in remission from leukemia.
I had to beg them not to sprint the first half mile. Mom has rabbited too many races to let the kids have to deal with that kind of pain!
Look at that boy, edible!
On to the finish!
Not far behind big sister!
An eleven minute mile? We'll take that!!! Next year, Morgan and I are gearing up for the 5k.
So, so happy!
Always happy to have face painting!
Go Broncos!
The next time we'll be at Veteran's Memorial Park will be Walk for Food Allergy: Moving Toward a Cure. Lots of great things happen at this park!
