The Relay starts bright and early so we have to spend the night in Stanley. We could stay in a hotel, but what's the fun in that? For the second year in a row, we've stayed in the "Red Rooster." Also known as a former brothel (seriously) and a landing place for guides running the river all summer. It's supposedly haunted, so there's not usually a lot of sleep occurring before race day.
This picture CRACKS me up. Don't we look tough? We were playing with the camera's self timer and for some reason we look like we are trying to psych out a group of hooligans. Our team was "The Situation," hence the t-shirts. If you don't understand what that means, then that means you have a life and don't watch the Jersey Shore on MTV.
There we are being happy! Do you like the mattress? We thought that was a nice touch for the pictures.
Race morning at the Stanley School! I love coffee!
Our team! Please note the beautiful Sawtooth mountain range in the background. Love it!!!
Start line, go McCale!!
I love to run and I am a nerd. This guy was my arch-nemesis.
Whoo-hooo. Again with the nerdiness.
At the summit of Galena Pass waiting for our road-warrior Laura. We didn't have to wait long because Laura sprints up that thing. A 1300 elevation gain is nothing for that girl!
And I'm done, whoop!
Enjoying the after-party in Sun Valley. Ah... some of my favorite things, life is good!
